CONSERVING BON ECHO

There are plenty of blogs surfacing the net today, and I'm not so sure how many are out there. I don't own a valid license in regards to social and political science. For sure I am not a practising psychologist, and I don't intend to be. But I sure can tell you plenty about Nature and Travel. My eye's and my camera have been my tools for a vast majority of my life. Taking a stroll in the woods armed with a back pack, a camera and bug spray is not what most people want out of life. But these are the places where creativity invents itself into real lively events. You can hear your footsteps crackle onto the dead timber branches on the ground, but knowing the branches are not dead, but alive. So I thought a beaver can really use that timber, or it would become the ideal compost for the forest ground. This is what I believe, begin by looking towards yourself. Changes can be made, and if you take on these tasks onto yourself you will be half way there. I have read books in which have given me inspiration and motivation, and for sure I'm no writer either. That I'm still trying to figure out. I have hundreds of pages of my writings scattered all over the place, I know my organization skills are a bit disorganised. I can still recall the very first time I stepped my way into the woods. A friend of mine at that time figured it would be very much entertaining to visit the so called "Feared Black Bears" at the garbage dump. Late at night, I make my way out of the Ford 250 and jump onto it's hood. My friend only thought I was insane, but at that moment I knew the Bears did not even care of my presence, they were too occupied at tearing up the plastic garbage food waste with there sharp claws. So this is when I discovered, that men, women and children may live with the wild. I was 15 years of age, and I knew my time and place had been delivered to me. I had discovered the bear, and soon began to realise there was so much more to observe and study.

TRAVEL AND MORE

Living and working in the urban planet today has become more difficult. We are facing a time when concrete and traffic congestion has surrounded us. Our green space and environmental has been a heated topic of discussion now for the past decade. Politically motivated by corporations, certain times the public is misinformed in regards to the true agendas. But Bon Echo Travels is not about Politics, or matter of opinions. Although the title Bon Echo Travels may sound to you as being one place, it's not. Nature adapts to change, and as nature unfolds a harsh winter we know in the spring the flowers, the tree's and the animals in the forest come to life. As this all unfolds so can the human being. Nature has it's way of cleansing itself, the unfortunate part of this discussion is that we don't pay attention to most of it. When I canoe my way through the Mazinaw I take it all in, I see the tree's, cliff's and feel the wind blowing across the lake. I've traveled and have been other places in the world, but the feeling is different upon moving through the open water. Nature is like a relationship, you have to put up with the bugs, weather, and any surprising events that may follow. so we adapt and learn to what life really should be. It shouldn't be a television reality show. Funny how people fascinate that in the wild, everything is wild, let's think about this. It is more likely your experience with the true wild won't even be in the forest, but in the city.

BON ECHO FAMILY CAMPGROUND

Many people have asked me if the Bon Echo Park is full during the course of the summer what other destination would offer the very same camping experience. My answer to that is very simple- Bon Echo Family Campground is exactly it's definition. This is not a campground in which you will be permitted to host parties and noise pollution etc. Let me tell you personally the only reason I fell in love with Bon Echo is purely for what it offers. For may information for booking BON ECHO FAMILY CAMPGROUND exciting information and details are listed on there web site.

SPIRIT OF THE TREES

I have learned so much from the native people. The one thing they taught me is how to respect the nature that is around us. For sure we can discuss the environement and many other issues. Spirit of the trees is a 6 part documentary series weaving together Native Voices. Please follow this SPIRIT OF THE TREES a film in which may be viewed trailer National Film Board Of Canada.

CANOEING

One of many, our ventures into the delightful Mazinaw. If you don't own one you can always rent which is extremely affordable at the Bon Echo Provincial Park. The amazing part is you can stop where you please for the much needed break from paddling. My advise is to be extremely careful when docking, the rocks are extremely sharp and slippery. Proceed with caution, and I can assure you that your canoe experience will be pleasurable and safe. Follow Canoeing for information about routes and rentals.

PINES

You can taste the pines within the woods.
Silence is everywhere with the exception of a few wood peckers when I snapped this photograph.
Bon Echo Provincial Park officially established in 1965.

NANABOZHO

I have travelled many destinations in my life, and what had started as a short visit a few years back has developed into a retreat in which is entirely a soul cleansing. The good thing it's home. I actually fell in love with the bugs, raccoons, deers, and yes even the bears. But I have yet to see one. Although I cannot sum this destination all in a few paragraphs, most certainly it's not a place liquified with luxury. The campgrounds are superb, the history will take you back. Nanabozho a word used often First Nations.NANABUSH
I've learned everything about Nanabozho during a very exhausting canoe trip, but every drop of sweat, aches and pains had been well worth it. You can follow this link to learn more about BON ECHO
